Summer Highlights II

I miss strawberries!

Piglet!

After nearly three years apart, my summer sister and I were finally united this July! Her name, obviously, isn't really Piglet, but I nicknamed her that given her tendency to snack and be afraid cling to me in far whenever anything remotely frightening happens. She in turn nicknamed me Oinker, and this summer, Alex finally earned her honorary pig name: Oiglet.

We kicked things off celebrating our friend Tony's birthday at a Greek restaurant. I couldn't help but be reminded of my script, Andromache, and Alex couldn't help but immitate Neoptoleumus -- the script's arrogant bad guy.

Piglet is a cake decorator so she helped us buy all the appropriate decorating gear then demonstrated how to use it:

The end result!

Tony had to go back to the Army base in Texas where he's training lads headed for Iraq before we could bake him a cake, so he told us to take a picture of one for him. He's lucky he didn't eat it... I confused backing soda and baking powder and the silver white cake turned out rather salty!

Alex baked chocolate cookies and I also dipped strawberries and we had a lovely dessert party.

Pretending we're Desperate Housewives: Gabby Soliz, Lynette Scavo, and Brie VanDecamp

Decorations

Yum!

Random picture of a chocolate fudge cake with peanut butter frosting that Alex made! So delicious!

We also had a few photo shoots where we pretended to be different types of people... If I'm brave enough those will see the light of day on the blog!

Mackenzie's Momma -- LOL You confused the guys you worked with for coyote butts? A very honest mistake. ;)

Summer Highlights

My favorite picture from camping

It's been a long while since I've blogged! My last year of grad school began almost a month ago now, and my summer was busy in the pleasantest way. I'll post some of the highlights over the next few days. Here are Here are the highlights of...

Camping

Moonrise

I miss waking up to this:

Views from our favorite beach:

Toot wasn't used to being around so many strangers and felt safe under the picnic bench, which was just as well since she'd bark at everyone who came too close to our campsite!

I thought this doxon looked a lot like Michael Caine...

Summer thunderstorm in the Sierras at about 5 AM

The lightning is at about one minute into the video

A bridge that reminded me of Jo and Laurie from Little Women...

A cove that looked like the Mediterranean

I know Teyla is on the left, but I have no idea who is on the right!

Tracie -- Thank you kindly! :) I hope you get to visit the ocean again soon!

Mackenzie's Momma -- Thank you, too! And what happened with the coyotes and the peas???
